The Coating Games
The $5,000 Coating Games

Official rules.

Last updated October 1, 2026 · Sponsored by Coating Cohort LLC, the company behind CoatingOS

The short version
  • Every eligible CoatingOS account in the U.S. is entered automatically. There's no entry fee.
  • Your score is the deposits you collect from October 1, 2026 through October 31, 2026 on work orders you create in CoatingOS in that window, paid online or entered by hand.
  • The three highest verified scores win $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000.
  • Hand-entered deposits need paperwork. We verify the top finishers before anyone is paid.

This summary is for convenience. The official rules below control.

2.Contest Period

The Contest runs from 12:00:00 a.m. on October 1, 2026 through 11:59:59 p.m. on October 31, 2026 (the “Contest Period”). Dates and times are measured in the time zone set in each Participant’s CoatingOS account, or U.S. Central Time if none is set. CoatingOS’s records are the official clock for the Contest.

3.Who can compete

The Contest is open to businesses that, during the Contest Period:

  • operate a floor coating or related contracting business in the United States (the 50 states and the District of Columbia);
  • use a CoatingOS account, including a free trial, that is in good standing under the Terms of Service; and
  • are owned and run by people who are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where they live).

Each eligible CoatingOS account is one “Participant.” The account owner on file acts for the Participant. A business may compete through one account only.

Not eligible:

  • Sponsor and its owners, members, officers, employees and contractors, and the members of their immediate families and households;
  • businesses owned or run by any of them, including Loud Bros;
  • demonstration and test accounts; and
  • businesses outside the United States.

The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

4.How to enter

There is no entry form and no entry fee. Every eligible CoatingOS account is entered automatically for the whole Contest Period. A business that doesn’t use CoatingOS can take part by starting a free 7-day trial. Subscription fees apply after the trial unless it is cancelled; the Contest doesn’t change those terms.

To opt out, email hello@coatingos.com from the account owner’s email address. An account that opts out isn’t ranked or shown on the leaderboard and can’t win a prize.

5.How you score

A Participant’s score is the total of its Qualifying Deposits, in U.S. dollars.

A Qualifying Work Order is a work order created in the Participant’s CoatingOS account during the Contest Period that has not been cancelled.

A Qualifying Deposit is money a customer pays toward a Qualifying Work Order, collected during the Contest Period and recorded in CoatingOS either:

  • online, paid by the customer through CoatingOS’s payment features; or
  • by hand, entered in CoatingOS by the Participant for a deposit received another way, such as cash, check or Venmo.

The amount counted is the deposit itself, not tips or card processing fees. A deposit recorded both online and by hand counts once.

These don’t count:

  • deposits collected before or after the Contest Period, and deposits on work orders created before or after it;
  • job totals, invoices, and progress or final payments — only deposits are scored;
  • deposits on cancelled work orders, and deposits later refunded, reversed or charged back (in whole or in part);
  • deposits from the Participant itself, its owners, employees or their relatives, or for work that isn’t a genuine customer job; and
  • deposits that weren’t recorded in CoatingOS during the Contest Period, or that can’t be verified under section 7.

6.The live leaderboard

Sponsor shows a live leaderboard at coatingos.com/coating-games with the top 10 Participants by unverified score. Each appears as the account owner’s first name and last initial, with its deposit total. The board refreshes every few minutes.

The leaderboard is for information only. Hand-entered deposits appear as entered until they are verified, and a place on the board doesn’t guarantee a prize. Sponsor may remove a Participant from the board while it reviews that Participant’s deposits; removal alone isn’t a disqualification.

By taking part, each Participant agrees that its owner’s first name, last initial and score may appear on the leaderboard. To keep off it, opt out under section 4.

7.Verification

Before awarding any prize, Sponsor verifies the Qualifying Deposits of the potential winners, and may verify any Participant’s. On request, a Participant must provide within five (5) business days:

  • the customer’s signed estimate, contract or work order for each deposit;
  • proof the deposit was received, such as a bank deposit record, a check image or a payment-app receipt; and
  • the customer’s contact information.

With notice to the Participant, Sponsor may contact customers to confirm the job and the deposit. Deposits that can’t be verified to Sponsor’s reasonable satisfaction are removed from the score. Sponsor’s verification decisions are final.

8.Winners and ties

The three Participants with the highest verified scores win first, second and third place. Sponsor plans to announce winners on or about November 7, 2026, after verification; if verification takes longer, the announcement may move.

If two or more Participants finish with the same verified score, they share equally the combined prizes for the places they occupy. For example, two Participants tied for first each receive half of the first- and second-place prizes combined, and the next Participant takes third.

9.Prizes

  • 1st place: $2,500
  • 2nd place: $1,500
  • 3rd place: $1,000

Total prize value: $5,000. Prizes are paid in U.S. dollars by check or ACH transfer to the winning business (or, for a sole proprietorship, its owner) within seven (7) business days after Sponsor confirms the winner and receives the forms in section 10. Prizes can’t be transferred or exchanged. Limit one prize per business.

10.Taxes

Winners are responsible for all taxes on their prizes. Before payment, each winner must provide a completed IRS Form W-9 and any other information the law requires. Sponsor will report prizes to tax authorities as required, generally on IRS Form 1099. A winner who doesn’t return the required forms within ten (10) business days of being asked may forfeit the prize.

11.Winner notification

Sponsor notifies potential winners by email at the account owner’s email address in CoatingOS. If a potential winner doesn’t respond within five (5) business days, can’t be verified, or is found ineligible, the prize may be forfeited and awarded to the Participant with the next-highest verified score.

12.Publicity

Sponsor may announce winners by the account owner’s first name and last initial, city and state, and score. Sponsor uses a winner’s full name, business name, photos or quotes only with the winner’s written permission.

13.Disqualification

Sponsor may disqualify a Participant that, in Sponsor’s reasonable judgment:

  • enters false, inflated or duplicate deposits;
  • records deposits from related parties or for work that isn’t a genuine customer job;
  • competes through more than one account for the same business;
  • changes dates, cancels and re-creates work orders, or otherwise manipulates the scoring; or
  • breaks these Rules or the CoatingOS Terms of Service.

Sponsor may also remove any deposit that doesn’t meet these Rules.

14.Changes and cancellation

Sponsor may change, suspend or end the Contest if fraud, technical problems or other causes beyond its control affect the Contest’s fairness or operation, or as the law requires. Any change will be posted on this page. If the Contest ends early, Sponsor may award prizes based on verified scores as of the end date. Sponsor isn’t responsible for leaderboard errors, technical failures, or data entered incorrectly by Participants.

15.Release and limits of liability

To the extent the law allows, each Participant releases Sponsor and its owners, members, employees and agents from claims arising from the Contest or from receiving or using a prize. Sponsor’s total liability for any claim relating to the Contest is limited to the amount of the prize at issue.

16.Disputes and governing law

These Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA. Disputes are resolved as described in the Dispute Resolution section of the CoatingOS Terms of Service.

17.Privacy

Sponsor uses Participant information to run the Contest and as described in the CoatingOS Privacy Policy.

18.Questions and the winners list

Questions about the Contest, or a request for the winners list (first names and last initials) after November 7, 2026: email hello@coatingos.com.
